The Quality Assurance Technician audits product and processes to assure quality. Centro and our customers rely heavily on the audit results generated by the Quality Assurance Technician to know that our processes are producing products that meet their needs and stated requirements. Equally as important, Centro and our customers rely on the Quality Assurance Technician to know that if results are not as they should be, that appropriate action is taken and that nonconforming product is precluded from use. In addition to auditing and monitoring product and processes, the Quality Assurance Technician is looked upon as a leader and role model in their knowledge, abilities, professional approach, and their willingness to teach and coach others in quality skills. It takes the strong performance of each Quality Assurance Technician in all facets of their position to assist Centro in achieving our stretch goals in our strategic plan and our quality objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Performs set-up by assuring properly mounted tooling and balancing, proper machine settings
and resin, adjusts, and properly maintains machines and tools per specification sheet
information.
2. Performs set-up and operating routine unassisted, using prescribed set-up operations, follow
proper operation procedures.
3. May, with proper Leader and/or QA approval, lower cycle times whenever possible, as time and
material allows.
4. Monitors SPC to obtain desired quality as directed.
5. Follows machine operator procedures as written in Machine Operator Instructions in the Product
Summary Report (PSR).
6. Makes minor repairs and adjustments on all machines and equipment as necessary.
7. Maintains and ensures quality by regular checking of each product produced and performing
regular maintenance.
8. Examines parts for surface cosmetics, proper weights, defects, etc.
9. Takes corrective action to ensure quality when advised by MO, QA Department, or Product
Inspector/Finisher (PIF) through Corrective Action Sheets, located at each machine.
10. Assures optimum communication to maintain consistency and proper procedures between shifts
by using notebook, corrective action sheets, verbal communications, etc.
11. Maintains and ensures quality by regularly checking machine settings (temperature, time, air,
water, damper, and rotation) a minimum of 2 to 3 times per shift.
12. Recognizes operating irregularities and machine malfunctions and notifies Leader and/or makes
necessary adjustments or repairs.
13. Reports any non-conforming material or parts to Leader and/or QA Department.
14. Identifies and points out any mold imperfections to Leader by using Mold Condition Report
Form.
15. Works at a pace applicable to machine cycle, making proper adjustments to run the highest
quality and quantity of parts.
16. Anticipates material requirements and notifies designated persons or Leader or moves materials
in order to minimize production delays.
17. Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, height
gauge, pyrometer, etc.
18. Performs necessary rework to make parts acceptable to quality requirements.
19. Works with MO to process each part - from the unload station though boxing - each cycle,
maintaining efficient flow of materials.
20. Cooperates to achieve and maintain housekeeping requirements of an exceptionally high
standard to provide continuous favorable customer impressions.
21. Keeps work area, equipment, machines, etc., clean and orderly. Cleans work area before
leaving and before shift change.
22. Is familiar with the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, the location of the Material Safety
Data Sheets (MSDS), reads labels, and follows safe practices in using chemicals, glues,
elements, etc.
23. Works safely at all times and comply with safety regulations regarding the use of protective
equipment and devices, keeping guards in place at all times. Reports any unsafe conditions to
Leader.
24. Practices Centro’s safety values and performs daily hazard analysis.
25. Offers suggestions relative to job improvements such as methods, procedures, ways of doing
things, housekeeping, safety, etc.
26. Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as directed by the Leader or
other designated person.
27. Has a working knowledge of Centro’s Quality Assurance System (QAS) and the PSR System
and utilizes them for process instructions and product quality plans.
28. Has responsibilities as assigned in Centro’s Quality System, which include but is not limited to
those in Quality System Procedures (QSPs) 7510, 7513, 7516, 8230, 8240 and 8300.
29. Must follow all standards in mold changes as stated in Centro Work Instructions, and as posted
on weight charts.
30. Monitors the outside surface of all molds for scale build up. Issues a work request to mold shop
as needed.
IV. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Requires a basic knowledge of machine practices and techniques, machine operations, plus
equivalent of up to 12 months of related experience. Proceeds on work assignments with close
supervision and direction.
2. Willingness to accept and embrace change in order to improve efficiencies.
3. Excellent customer service attitude to apply to both Centro’s internal and external customers.
Must be able to communicate and use tact to work with others.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relations, listening skills,
organizational abilities, and project management coordination and completion skills are
required.
5. Ability to work within and foster a team environment and relate well with internal customers is
required.
6. Knowledge of Centro’s product, customers, and manufacturing and finishing operations highly
desired.
7. Must be able to analyze facts, evaluate unique situations, and exercise discretion to determine
the most appropriate action plan and/or work sequence or method to perform job tasks
effectively.
8. A commitment to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, teamwork
cooperation, workstation cleanliness, high productivity, and consistently good punctual
attendance is required.
9. Must achieve the competencies defined in Centro’s Quality System in order to become, and
continue to be qualified for this position.

Must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write sufficiently for effective interpersonal
communications required to accomplish essential job functions. Must be able to receive,
comprehend and apply detailed information, judge depth accurately, distinguish color and variances
visually and read measurements. Must be able to walk, stand for long periods and have hand, arm
and body dexterity sufficient to reach, bend, stoop, manipulate, grasp, feel and periodically lift and
carry materials up to 50 pounds.
VI. Work Environment and Schedule
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment, with a temperature range between 30 and 110
degrees F. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, with overtime or weekend work
schedules as required. Work is scheduled for any of three shifts: First (day), Second (evening) and
Third (night), with various actual starting and ending times, and temporary shift placements, as
assigned by Business Process Owner, Process Pro, or Process Support. Break and meal periods in
designated areas of up to 40 minutes per eight-hour shift are provided.
A pre-employment physical and drug screen is required prior to employment.
