Project Engineer Assistant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a Project Engineer or Project Engineering Leader, the Project Engineer Assistant completes EER’s (Engineering Evaluation Requests) from the Sales Engineers so that prearranged deadlines can be met.  Communicates potential delays to the Project Engineer and to the Leader at the earliest detection.

  • Effectively communicates project feasibility with respect to process limitations, plant limitations and material performance to the Project Engineer or Project Engineering Leader.

  • Completes proposal process and forms in accordance with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) work instructions for Gate One, Proposal Submission, under the direction of the Project Engineer.

  • Responsible for performing a variety of project engineering functions relating to new product development under the direction of a Project Engineer or Project Engineering Leader.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • An associate degree in applied science or engineering discipline or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Ability to apply principles of scientific analysis, math and physics to solve engineering problems is required.      

  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Basic Pro/Engineer or an alternative 3D CAD software skills  is required.  Must be able to import and export models, inquire regarding properties and dimensions, and design fixture components. 

  • Commitment to continuous improvement of quality, customer service, teamwork and safety required.

  • Ability to function in team environment, with excellent communications and interpersonal skills required.

  • Skills in computer business use and hand and power tools required.

  • Willingness to accept and embrace change in order to improve efficiencies.

  • Knowledge of Centro’s product, customers, and manufacturing and finishing operations highly desired.

  • Must be able to analyze facts, evaluate unique situations, and exercise discretion to determine the most appropriate action plan and/or work sequence or method to perform job tasks effectively.

  • A commitment to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, teamwork cooperation, workstation cleanliness, high productivity, and consistently good punctual attendance is required.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write sufficiently for effective interpersonal communications required to accomplish essential job functions.  Must be able to receive, comprehend and apply detailed information, judge depth accurately, distinguish color and variances visually and read measurements.  Must be able to walk, stand for long periods and have hand, arm and body dexterity sufficient to reach, bend, stoop, manipulate, grasp, feel and periodically lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment and Schedule

Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with some periodic exposure to a manufacturing environment with temperatures ranging from 55-100 degrees F. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, with some potential for occasional variances depending on departmental workload.  Periodic travel to all Centro facilities, customers, vendor sites, and conferences including overnight stays, may be required.  Will commit sufficient time to accomplish all job responsibilities in a timely manner.
