  1. Job Summary

This position pays $21 per hour.  Work scheduled to be determined based upon availability. 

Serves as a member of a high performance manufacturing team creating quality products to satisfy our customer’s needs. Provides assistance to manufacturing teams in various roles as needed.  Based on training level and experience, initially inspects product, operates a variety of hand tools and power equipment to finish product and to add accessory parts to product in accordance with customer specifications and Centro’s quality system standards. Assists to prepares and maintain work site, tools and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe operating condition. Responsible for security, care, and safety of assigned tools and equipment. May be assigned to work at various workstations to meet production schedules and customer needs.

 

  1. Relevance and Importance of this Position at Centro, Inc.

     

    The Manufacturing Associate assists full time Associates in ensuring that only products that meet or exceed our customer's needs, expectations, and requirements are sent. We will not meet our warranty returns PPM goals and most importantly, we will not have customers that appreciate Centro, unless they are satisfied with the quality of product they receive. The Manufacturing Associate performs a variety of tasks based on the needs of the team they are working with, the product mix, and the training and skills they possess. From cleaning, organizing and managing inventory of components and parts, initial inspection and identification of molding defects, to performing leak testing on tanks, this role is important to the overall success of machine teams and helping the business achieve production and quality objectives.

     

  2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    LEVEL I

     

  1. Works safely at all times, complies with all safety rules and requirements, wears all necessary protective equipment, has knowledge of OSHA hazard communications, material safety data sheets (MSDS), lock-out procedures, bloodborne pathogens, and fire and tornado safety procedures. “Safety First” in work performance.

     

  2. Performs the following tasks at various workstations to complete the manufacturing of rotomolded plastic products in accordance with customer and quality specifications and production pace required: Organizes work site for optimum productivity and safety; assists other team members as necessary to achieve desired results and goals.

 

  1. Completes trimming, deburring, sanding, deflashing on molded parts.

 

  1. Understands and applies Centro Quality Policy and works towards the achievement of stretch goals and related Quality objectives. Has knowledge of Quality Assurance System and Procedures, assuming responsibility for a variety of Quality System Procedure (QSP) sections as assigned. Practices “Quality First” in work performance.

                                                                                                                                      

  1. Maintains appropriate pace of work to comply with output requirements.

     

  2. Maintains clean, orderly work site, and maintains care of tools and equipment for enhanced safety, productivity, and organizational profitability.

 

LEVEL II added responsibilities (in addition to LEVEL I)

 

  1. Performs variety of required operations on product using hand and power tools, completes any necessary addition of accessory parts to finish product; packs or otherwise prepares inspected product for shipment; Completes accessory addition, and some other necessary tasks to complete product manufacturing and finishing operations (based on training and experience with those operations).

     

  2. Prepares product for shipment by selecting and using the following hand and power tools effectively and safely: bandsaw, drill, sander, router, clamps, propane torch, trimmer, knife, shrink wrapper, tape machines, ruler, press, cutter, calipers, pen and pencil, micrometer, measuring gauges, and any other tools which may be introduced.

     

  3. Notifies Process Pro or Process Support of any supply needs, accessory shortage, or malfunctioning tools or equipment. May perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment, and may assist in handling of materials as necessary.

     

    LEVEL III added responsibilities (in addition to LEVEL I and II)

     

  4. Uses computer, reads, and initiates written documents (PSR, PCN) to ensure compliance with specifications.

     

  5. Reports any product defect to a Leader and Quality Assurance Technician for direction and correction. Marks defects on product and completes yellow hold tag and affixes to defective product. Performs any necessary rework on defective product to meet quality requirements and specifications.

     

  6. Assists in keeping accurate production records and ensures optimum communications and cooperation with team members, including QA Technician, Business Process Pro, Business Process Support, Business Process Owner, and Associates on other shifts.

     

  7. Practices continuous improvement in job performance through cross-training, continuous education for skills enhancement, and offering ideas to improve personal productivity and organizational profitability.

     

  8. If properly trained, provides coverage for the Machine Operator and Assistant Machine Operator during scheduled break times. May also provide back up machine coverage as assigned by management.

  9. Performs other related job duties as assigned by management, which may include assisting in training new Associates, assisting in cleaning of plant premises and recycling efforts, and operating fork lift (if certified).

     

     

  1. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

  1. An ability and desire to learn and apply a wide variety of tasks directly related to the manufacturing of rotomolded plastic product is required. For Levels II and III, must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools and assigned equipment effectively and safely to perform the essential job functions.

     

  2. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions; add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers; and learn and apply organizational and computer skills sufficiently to perform essential job functions.

     

  3. Must be able to read, write, speak, and hear sufficiently for effective interpersonal communications and to perform essential functions of the job effectively.

     

  4. A commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, teamwork, workstation cleanliness, high productivity, and consistently good punctual attendance is required. Must learn and practice basic team functions; including problem solving, cooperation, communications, conflict resolution, and action planning.

     

  5. Must achieve the competencies defined in Centro’s Quality System in order to become, and continue to be qualified for this position.

     

  1. Physical Demands

     

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

     

    Must be able to judge depth, distinguish colors, detect variances visually and read measurements, computer screen data and written documents. Must be able to grasp, feel, and handle product, lift and carry product weighing up to 30 pounds continuously, carry product weighing up to 50 pounds periodically, stand for long periods, walk and climb stairs, stoop, reach and bend and pass physical exam.

     

  2. Work Environment and Schedule

     

    Work is performed in a manufacturing environment, with a temperature range between 50 and 110 degrees F. Part time hours may be scheduled at any time Monday through Sunday based on need.  Manufacturing Associates may communicate availability and preferred hours.  However, once committed to a scheduled time, the Associate is expected to arrive on time and work the entire shift.  Late or no attendance will result in penalties according to the attendance policy. Break and meal periods in designated areas of up to 20 minutes per 4-hour shift are provided.
