Account Representative / Sales Engineer

The Sales Engineer represents Centro to our customers and is often the most significant influence in generating a positive perception of our company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


1. Pursues new sales possibilities, and qualifies potential new customers, in accordance with
customer profile and diversification goals and the effective use of engineering and production
resources and capacities.
2. Provides the following activities in support of assigned current and qualified potential customers.
a. Initiates project review with Engineering and provides customer with engineering and design
assistance.
b. Reviews engineering analysis, determines and authorizes price and provides and authorizes
a timely proposal to the customer.
c. Reviews and authorizes customer purchase contract for molds, patterns, fixtures, prototype,
sample parts and first production orders for new parts.
d. Assists in production part approval process as described in QSP 7100 with Engineering,
Materials and Production. Assumes primary and contributory responsibilities as described.
e. Serves as a communication link between customer and Centro, and facilitates the
resolution of any issue affecting the customer’s sales, project launch and production
processes, including design, price, quality assurance, tooling, molds, delivery, prototypes,
change orders, etc.
. Reviews and resolves any customer warranty claims.
g. Provides rotomolding process and technical assistance to customer purchasing, engineering
or quality assurance representatives, to confirm for them design integrity, quality and value.
h. Personally visits customer sites periodically to promote self-knowledge and positive
relations.
i. Reports significant loss involving customer supplied product to the appropriate customer.
3. Learns, supports, practices Centro’s Quality System and procedures, including:
a. Defining and communicating customer needs, goals and expectations.
b. Communicating necessary customer specifications through accurate and complete
documentation.
c. Facilitates quality assurance process through design, prototype and quality audits.
d. Contributes to continuous quality improvement efforts through participation in quality teams,
customer representatives/Centro Associate meetings, and individual commitment & efforts.
e. Assumes primary responsibility for QSP 7221 (purchase contracts for molds, patterns, and
fixtures).
f. Assumes contributory responsibility for QSP 4230 (document Control) & primary
responsibility for QSP 4237 (PCN), responsibilities of the Sales Engineer.
g. Conducts annual customer surveys and helps coordinate improvements in (and action plans
if necessary) for areas identified in Customer surveys and Customer rating programs.

h. Participates in the Corrective and Preventative Action process when requested. (Reference
QSP 8530 and QSP 8531)
4. Submits annual sales volume forecast, and monthly expense report prior to month end closing
date.
5. Participates in professional and personal development through continuing education seminars &
classes.
6. Gathers, analyzes and reports market research data and opinions, including competitors,
customers, new technology, new markets, pricing trends, etc., via industry associations, trade
shows and periodicals.

IV. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Associate or Bachelor degree in business, liberal arts or engineering.
2. Successful sales, marketing and/or customer service experience. Technical experience in
engineering.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal and negotiation
skills.
4. Strong aptitude for learning and applying engineering and other technical skills, including
product design concepts and blueprint reading, applied math (algebra, geometry, statistics) and
computer and software use which relate directly to the plastic rotational molding process.
5. License to operate a motor vehicle. A safe driving record is required.
6. Ability to work within and foster a team environment, and to relate well with internal & external
customers.
7. Commitment to continuous improvement, quality, customer service, teamwork, cooperation and
safety.
8. Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to complete tasks without
supervision.
9. Must be able to use a computer, including database, spread sheet, word processing,
engineering design and the related application software. Must be able to use the following
instruments or equipment efficiently: Fax, telephone, voice mail, copier, scanner, calculator,
video and still cameras, VCR, calipers, ultrasonic thickness gauge, safety glasses, E-mail, auto
seat belt and safety equipment.

V. Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate
to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be

Must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write sufficiently for effective interpersonal
communications required to accomplish essential job functions. Must be able to receive,
comprehend and apply detailed information, judge depth accurately, distinguish color and variances
visually and read measurements. Must be able to walk, stand for long periods and have hand, arm
and body dexterity sufficient to reach, bend, stoop, manipulate, grasp, feel and periodically lift and
carry materials up to 50 pounds.

VI. Work Environment and Schedule

Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with some periodic exposure to a
manufacturing environment with temperatures ranging from 55-100 degrees F. Normal work
schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, with some potential for occasional variances
depending on departmental workload. Will commit sufficient time to accomplish all job
responsibilities in a timely manner.
