The Quality Engineer is an integral part of the Centro team in performing advanced product quality planning activities as defined by the Centro Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and in accordance with customer requirements. The Quality Engineer determines appropriate quality plans for new products and actively provides input into the design of capable processes with a strong focus on mistake proofing. The Quality Engineer is on the forefront and actively supports Centro engineering and manufacturing in the application of appropriate methodologies to continually improve quality and exceed customer expectations. Provides strong support in resolution of any specification concerns and overseas customer approval of new projects. The Quality Engineer also provides strong support to the manufacturing divisions in ensuring successful production of new and current projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs all primary and contributory responsibilities as defined in the Centro PPAP or all assigned customer accounts.
  • Assists in the coordination and execution of any specific customer part approval requirements (including any associated components) for assigned customers. Is responsible to submit any customer-required paperwork for part approval.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the status of the projects assigned and perform responsibilities on a timely basis. Any concerns with meeting responsibilities in a timely manner must be communicated to the Leader.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the design and planned processes to manufacture the part for all projects assigned. Must actively provide input on any recommended improvements with mistake proofing or any other methodology including SPC that will enable us to meet or exceed customer quality expectations.
  • Creates inspection plans that are meaningful to what is most important on the part and assure conformance. Conducts MSA as needed to assure an accurate and repeatable measurement process. Assists with the design of special gauges as needed. Review and acceptance by the customer should be sought whenever possible.
  • Provides strong support for the Project Engineer in the ISIR Process. This would include but is not limited to: Assisting with the coordination of the CMM Schedule; Reviewing completed ISIR information and being knowledgeable with areas that are out of tolerance; Assisting where appropriate and beneficial in preparing information for review and providing input into the resolution strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in recognized engineering discipline or equivalent education and experience highly preferred. ASQ certification as Quality Engineer is encouraged.
  • Applicable skills in using quality assurance techniques and tools, including statistical process control, statistical analysis, process mapping, root cause analysis, process failure mode effects analysis required. Is capable of using appropriate measurement and test instruments (i.e. micrometer, caliper, height gauge, CMM).
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, blue print reading, measurement system analysis (MSA), statistical analysis, design concepts and practices, manufacturing processes, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), materials, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing concepts, and gauge design required.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills, an attention to detail and creativity and the ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner required.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, meeting management and team building skills required.
  • Ability to effectively lead and facilitate cross functional teams.

A pre-employment physical exam and drug test is required.
