Internal Sales Engineer

The Internal Sales Engineer plays an extremely critical role in Centro's ability to achieve our strategic plan stretch goals and our quality goals through:
1. Fostering a positive relationship with customers and through professional, courteous, customer-oriented, and prompt approach to meeting their needs sets Centro apart from other suppliers.
2. Communicating the customer’s needs, expectations, and requirements throughout the organization.
3. Conscientious, thorough, and accurate proposal of projects and comprehensive contract review to ensure the customers needs, expectations, and requirements are fulfilled and reflect Centro's capabilities.
4. Seeking win-win in all aspects of the relationship.
The Internal Sales Engineer represents Centro to our customers and is often the most significant influence in generating a positive perception of our company.


III. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Provides direct support to external Sales Engineers and their customers.
2. Enhances customer relationships by providing professional personal service in satisfying their needs and exceeding their expectations.
3. Supports external Sales Engineers by performing the following:
a. Performs project reviews.
b. Reviews vendor/customer purchase proposals and contracts for molds, patterns, prototypes, manufacturing location and schedules, change orders and warranty claims.
c. Performs analysis of engineering estimates, vendor tooling proposals, and use of technical knowledge to prepare the customer proposal including pricing, delivery, and detailed communication of any issues or concerns.
d. Serves as a communication link to customers as necessary.
e. Facilitates the resolution of any issue affecting a customer, including design, price, quality, molds, tooling, prototypes, manufacturing location and schedules, change orders & warranty claims.
f. Provides technical assistance to customer purchasing, quality and engineering representatives, to confirm product design quality and value in meeting their needs and goals.
g. Serves as “on-call” Sales Engineer to assure timely and appropriate response to customer inquiries and issues, especially in the absence of the external Sales Engineers.
h. Assists in preparing marketing materials such as PowerPoint presentations, market analysis reports and internet research.
4. Learns all aspects of Sales Engineering mission, goals, business practices and external Sales Engineer job responsibilities to enhance the quality and timelines of the support provided to them and Centro’s customers.
5. Learns, supports and promotes Centro’s Quality Systems and procedures to facilitate the application of quality in all aspects of product development, prototyping and production. When requested by the Sales Engineer, has the authority to issue proposals in accordance with QSP 7222 and perform Contract Reviews in accordance with QSP 7221.
6. Participates in personal and professional development through continuing education, practical experiences, attendance of appropriate trade shows, and reading industry documents and periodicals.
7. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Sales Engineer, or Director of Sales.

IV. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Associate’s degree in business, engineering or liberal arts required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2. Direct customer relations and sales support experience preferred.
3. Excellent skills in verbal and written communications, interpersonal relations, listening and organizational abilities, and project management, coordination and completion required.
4. Ability and desire for learning and applying engineering and other technical skills to the sales support and project coordination functions required. These skills include product design concepts, materials knowledge, blueprint reading, applied math (algebra and geometry), and engineering design software applications.
5. Ability to work within and foster a team environment and to relate well with internal customers is required.
6. Must be computer literate, able to use Microsoft Windows and Office software. Must be able to learn the use of the following equipment and tools: telephone, voice mail, computer, e-mail, fax, copier, calculator, video and still cameras, VCR, calipers, ultrasonic wall thickness gauge, other tools added as necessary, and personal protection equipment while in production areas.

V. Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write sufficiently for effective interpersonal communications required to accomplish essential job functions. Must be able to receive, comprehend and apply detailed information, judge depth accurately, distinguish color and variances visually and read measurements. Must be able to walk, stand for long periods and have hand, arm and body dexterity sufficient to reach, bend, stoop, manipulate, grasp, feel and periodically lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.

VI. Work Environment and Schedule

Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with some periodic exposure to a manufacturing environment with temperatures ranging from 55-100 degrees F. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, with some potential for occasional variances depending on departmental workload. Periodic travel to all Centro facilities, customers, vendor sites, and conferences including overnight stays, may be required. Will commit sufficient time to accomplish all job responsibilities in a timely manner.
